This sketchbook documents a year of immigration as we, an Irish family, relocate to my home of origin in New Zealand. It is a journal of returning to the start of a cycle for me as an artist and mother, five children and 25 years later. But like all cycles, the beginning is never the same as when we left it.

From foreigner to national and back to foreigner again, the sketchbook carries thoughts on resettling and creating alternative histories and stories of belonging than those of our lives in Ireland.

Currently located in Taranaki, New Zealand, I am an exhibiting artist/printmaker in Ireland and New Zealand and a member of Cork Printmakers.
