Regional news. Why does it matter? Local newspapers in Ireland are at a cross-roads. Plummeting circulation, less resources in the newsroom, digital onslaught and market pressures are to the fore.

This notebook project is for the Kildare community to take note.

It is simply a local reporter's notes and snippets over the course of five years at the Leinster Leader; a snapshot of interviews with the community of Athy in South Kildare, of characters, places and events, both good and bad.

It's also a record of art, showing the beginnings of the newspaper process.

The message is simple, take note, it's important, it's your community, your people, your news, your reporter.
