I am delighted to be included in the KRF: Artist Notebook Project 2012. My notebook is a doodling of a variety of wonderings that wandered into my night/daydreaming mind when my mind hadn’t completely wandered off itself. Some have become finished ideas, others are still roaming about in the maze of recesses in my mind occasionally popping up to say ‘Hi, what ya going to do with me then?’ I enjoy photography, pen ‘n’ ink drawings of everyday seeings, heck! all sorts of media including mixing medias together. Messing about and happy accidents, also playing with words and puzzles, love optical illusions. The latticework cover is representing the gate after a drawbridge - the iron curtain? I was going to put on bracket hinges but wondered if it would be a problem re size restrictions. An unlocking of my thoughts. Always had a fondness for making something out of nothing, for looking at everyday items in a different way such as turning a stainless steel wastepaper basket into a trophy. Recycling the unwanted into wanted. A giant bed bug from a double spring mattress and a single mattress to a blue damselfly. Currently I am making tin can metals into a variety of sculptures, one piece has been in The Sculpture in Context 2013 at the Botanic Gardens, Dublin with a follow on exhibition in The Four Seasons Hotel. I love odd stuff from items to ideas. I hope you enjoyed this notebook, but most importantly, somewhere in there was a smile for you.
