This little note book is a journey through Art as part of my life as I only took up Art in my late thirties.

I have been painting in a variety of media for over 15 years. Back then, I started painting in water colour and loved the loose watercolour washes. I would combine the delicate pencil drawings with the loose watercolour washes. Then I moved on to acrylics, and I found this medium easier to fix if you made mistakes painting. A lot of my work in this note book, is painted in acrylics, as it was easy to dry, and I only had 4 months to get the book finished. I now like to experiment more with texture in oils and abstract, using materials and sand and tissue paper. My note book is comprised of dried flowers, flowers painted in acrylic and pastels. There are also some dried leaves from my garden, and paintings of wild life from my garden too, through the seasons.

I hope it captures the imagination of who ever sees it. It is made up of real flowers in bloom, and when they have faded. I also did a collage using pictures from magazines, little pieces of material whiich had flowers printed on them and some paint. Some of the flowers were painted using bees wax,the medium called Encaustic.

I also did a painting in Aboriginal style using acrylics. Lots of dots. The dried Hydrangea flowers were from my garden too.

The colour had faded from the drying.

The pieces of wallpaper which I put in the book,go back many years. It dates back to 1957,and some of this wallpaper was used on the walls of Granny Fitzpatricks sitting room I also put in a photograph of the old kitchen window at the old house, where Granny looked out of that window every day. This little note book gave me great pleasure and enjoyment while working on it and I loved every minute of it. I just hope it inspires someone to take up Art even in their later years as its a great source of relaxation and enjoyment.
