Vincent
O'Neill
Coming from Kerry my first love was football but always had a keen interest in art perhaps due to an enthusiastic teacher in secondary school.I also had two aunts who dabbled a bit in watercolour back in the thirties.
I paint mainly in oils so I was a bit restricted in what I could present in the note book as it is not suitable for oil painting. Nevertheless I thought the notebook was a great idea for preserving one's work for posterity.
Back in the seventies I had a solo exhibition of Irish landscapes which greatly appealed to visitors to the shows.
Since then I have taken part in numerous exhibitions in and around Dublin. I also have supplied golf cubs with prizes for Captains and presidents competitions.
In the year of the millennium i was asked by the then p.p. Rev .Fr. Rispin to have an exhibition of local talent which was very successful and has been going from strength to strength ever since.
In the notebook I have included some poems on subjects close to my heart. The poem about my old home in Kerry was
inspired by a visit when all the inhabitants were gone. As it was a rambling house of music song and dance the visit
was all the more poignant.
There are also some still life sketches and photographs of inspiring situations. The mediums used were colour pencils oil pastels watercolour acrylic and mixed media.
I am a member of The Old schoolhouse Art Group and also The Meath Arts Group.
